I'm sure it was more likely operator error than anything else but I found that I wasn't really a big fan of using pellets for fuel in my brand new Frya. Lots of soot and creosote and no real way to control the intensity of the fire. Unfortunately the Frya is designed to only use pellets. What is a lad to do? After perusing the various Ooni Facebook groups I came across a number of posts from Frya owners who were in the same boat as me and had ordered the gas burner attachment that is an add-on accessory for the Ooni Karu 12. It fits the Frya perfectly, burns clean, and the flame is adjustable. I ordered one and attached it to my Frya today with a couple of strong magnets that I normally use to close up the rebar holes in my PBC and fired it up. Looks like it is going to fit the bill perfectly and my neighbour was kind enough to drop off a couple of stainless steel self-tapping screws for me today. I can always swap back to the pellet system anytime I want, but I kind of lean towards the opinion of Attjack and others that you're not likely to get much in the way of wood flavour from a home pizza oven when the cooking only takes about 90 seconds or so, especially when using pellets that at the temps in a pizza oven aren't giving off any real smoke at all.
